NIA is a fun, healing movement technique designed to ELEVATE your heart rate, LIFT your spirits, STRETCH AND STRENGTHEN every muscle and to CONNECT your mind to your body.
Jason uses eclectic music and simple movements inspired by Jazz & Modern Dance, Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi, Yoga and other body healing modalities to guide the class through a workout that is challenging in more than just the physical plane. It will just seem like you’re having a good time dancing and the next thing you know you’re covered in sweat. You'll learn about your body and your movements. You'll learn to take cues from the sensations in your feet. You will be moving with emotional energy. You’ll be focusing on new and exciting aspects of your movement potential.
“This lyric dance-like routine is deceptively powerful, delivering a high-powered workout that will leave you strong and centered.”
— Health Magazine
“Most innovative workout (Nia) stands head and shoulders
above a crowded look-alike market.”
— American Fitness Magazine
... looks like modern dance because it is beautiful, it is set to music and everyone is moving their bodies and smiling and having a great time.
... feels like yoga because the class is very focused on self-awareness and joining the body, mind and spirit.
... is taught and practiced like martial arts; using kicks, blocks and strikes with intention and self-discipline.
... takes aerobics classes in the direction of Tai Chi with its barefoot, controlled, whole body movements.
... tastes like chocolate and is just as indescribably unique and adored.
“... is fitness as an art form.” — Jason’s Student
Nia is indescribable. The best way to understand what it is, is to come and take a Nia class with Jason. If you're like most people, you will feel much better after you've done a Nia class than you did before you started. Isn't that the way a fitness class ought to make you feel?
