The Bliss Out Playshop is focused on self-care, pleasure and self-massage. You will learn a variety of self-massage techniques to address every area of your body with the Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls.
These massage balls are featured in LAST DECEMBER'S issue of SELF Magazine (CLICK HERE TO READ)
and this type of self-massage was featured in the New York Times on December 1 (click here to read)
Bliss Out is not a workout; the goal of this playshop is to loosen and relax your muscles and relieve tension and pain. It will calm your nervous system, melt out the kinks and free your body from painful restriction. You'll experience the equivalent of a full-body, deep-tissue massage. You’ll relax, de-stress and find peace. It's not strenuous. The Bliss Out Playshop is all about relaxing, but because of the nature of deep tissue massage, there may be some slight discomfort as you address over-tight muscle tissue, but by the end you will be in bliss. Your body is much happier when it is free of tension and pain.
We'll also be practicing powerful breathing techniques that will help keep you calm and relaxed during the deep work. And using these same techniques, you can avoid the long-term ravages of stress, which are interpreted as 'aging.'
And finally, we’ll finish the day with a brief, guided meditation to assure that you leave the Bliss Out Playshop in the state of bliss.
Life is full of kinks and aches and pains, so it's always good to have a nice way of taking care of these things when and where they arise. Self-care is an effective and affordable way to keep your body running smoothly.
The Bliss Out Playshop is Saturday, August 21, 10am - noon. The cost for this playshop is $59 plus a $10 material fee for your own personal set of Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls that you can take home to keep yourself in constant bliss.
If you only take one workshop this year, it should be this one. The self-care techniques that you learn will keep you feeling good and free of aches and pains for the rest of your life. Class size is limited to eight so register early.

Many Causes of Pain:
During our daily activities of life, we can often overuse or misuse any of our joints and/or muscles. If a shoulder joint, for example, is always internally rotated, this leads to muscle imbalances. Eventually the internal rotator muscles will become stronger than the external rotators and the body will be painfully pulled out of alignment by those imbalances. This happens very commonly in the shoulder, and also in the hamstrings/lower back. Not only is the stretched muscle irritated by being tugged on, which causes one kind of pain, but the integrity of the structure of the body can be lost. There isn’t a lot of room within the structure of our shoulder for things to get too out of alignment before they start encroaching and impinging on other structures, causing a different kind of pain. JAGs Bliss Out Playshop with the Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls helps to eliminate muscular imbalances by stretching over-tightened muscles.
Another thing that causes pain is something that many of us do during a typical day; and that is to hold unnecessary tension without realizing it. Very often, we walk around with tension in our upper back, lower back, hips, buttocks, face, hands or feet. Tension leads to pain. Muscles that are chronically, subconsciously contracted will eventually develop into a state of permanent low-level excitation called latency. In the latent state, the muscle is slightly traumatized by the contraction, but not enough to be giving pain signals to the brain. Unless it is touched. Touching a latent muscle will create a seemingly inappropriate and undue pain response either directly at the point of pressure, or very often, at another location in the body. For example, touching a latent trapezius muscle (which is the back of the neck and upper back area) could send a sharp pain to the region just above the eyebrow. This could easily be misinterpreted as a simple ‘headache.’ The pain is referred from the point of tension to a distant spot through a network of connective tissue that runs through and connects the entire body. The Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls get to the connective tissue and set it free; removing these trigger points and eliminating the pain and freeing up the body to move. Using the methods covered in JAG’s Bliss Out Playshop, you will address all of the major areas of your body.
Another cause of pain and stiffness is sometimes simple lack of movement. Our bodies are designed to self-heal, and one of the main ways it accomplishes this is by constantly lying down new tissue. The movement of our bodies educates the new materials about what their functions should be. But if there is no movement, it just lays down a thicker and thicker web of new material in a random pattern and stiffness begins to creep in. The longer we go without moving, the longer the intricate fibers have to develop and the more difficult it becomes to break them down. Have you noticed that when you don’t move for a while, you feel stiff? When you wake up in the morning, your body has had a long time to lay down new material. The stiffness you feel when you first start to move is all the new fibers. Proper movements will break the fibers that don’t support the movement while keeping in tact the ones that do support the movement, thereby adapting your body to what you do with it. So, while proper daily movement will keep your body running smoothly, JAG’s Bliss Out Playshop with the Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls will be getting movement into all of those places where we most commonly don’t tend to move much. We’ll free up movement in the back, the hips and pelvis, shoulders, diaphragm and many other places.
These rubber balls and this technique of self-care are a indispensable tools for keeping your body running smoothly and living pain-free. You will experience the equivalent of a full-body, deep-tissue massage and have the tools and learn the skills to keep your body happy for a lifetime.
