Corpse :: Savasana

This pose looks deceptively simple, but is really a quite important aspect of yoga and easy to do incorrectly. I do it at the end of my sessions, but it is also commonly done at the beginning and/or between each of the other poses.

Start by lying on your back in a symmetrical position. Then begin to rotate your hip and shoulder joints and to lengthen your spine until the sense of total relaxation overcomes you. Relax in stillness and breathe deeply. Do not allow yourself to lose concentration on the sensing of your body. It is not nap time. The focus is to completely release all of your joints for the purpose of allowing your body to begin putting itself back together after going through the poses.

Namaste.
